KIPLING, Rudyard: (1865-1936) - Two-page typed letter, signed with notations, from Bateman's, dated Nov. 20/27, to Mrs Sanders. He discusses his recent trip to France ... "Vichy-the dullest spot on Earth". He comments on the wet weather, and is very relieved that foot and mouth, which has reached as far as the New Forest, hasn't affected his animals yet.

It was built in 1634, and is now owned by the National Trust who run it as a museum dedicated to this great English literary figure, author of so many classical works such as If, Just So Stories, Kim, Jungle Book and poems such as Gunga Din, Mandalay, etc, etc.
